What you'll find here...

This is my digital doppelganger and serves as a platform where I can express my creativity. This includes those things I am writing or as a way to highlight my photographs...so many photographs.

For the past few years, I've been traveling full time. In my meandering I am witness to a planet in flux. The world has become more accessible to many but more exclusionary to many more. As someone trained as an observer, I want to better understand the impact and influence this is having on our society and what it might mean for the future and the influence it is having on our shared perspective.

Jean Garner

For four decades I worked as a journalist both in the United States and globally. I've covered everything from local fires to political firestorms. I have been very fortunate to witness what the world is like in places such as post-war Bosnia or post-Soviet Ukraine.

I moved into media development and journalism training. This afforded me a front row seat as a witness to how people have struggled to build their democracy. I have also help to support these emerging journalists as they struggle to bring forth facts to audiences otherwise denied the reality of what is happening in their communities.

Spending time in their company has revealed how the foundations of our democratic society remain unfinished.
